Financial Commandments Assessment
Your financial life isn't run by your income, your discipline, or your spreadsheet. It's run by a belief you formed before you knew what a mortgage was. It's called your Financial Commandment. Finding yours is where change starts.
The problem
You know what you should do. You've read the articles, downloaded the apps, started over more than once. The problem isn't information. It's the belief running underneath it. Financial psychology has a name for it. We built a tool to help you find yours.
Financial literacy programmes are good at delivering information. Research consistently shows they are far less effective at producing lasting behaviour change.
Financial psychology research identifies a core reason: money behaviour is driven by belief systems formed early in life, largely before any formal financial education begins.
These belief systems, called money scripts in the academic literature, operate beneath conscious awareness. They can be identified, examined, and changed.
The insight
A Financial Commandment is the unconscious belief driving every money decision you make. It was formed in childhood, watching a parent panic about bills, hearing “we can't afford that,” or learning that money meant conflict. It runs silently in the background, shaping what you spend, save, avoid, and fear.
Most financial advice treats the symptom. Financial Commandments go to the root. Once you see yours clearly, everything changes.
Some of the commandments you might carry
Holding you back
"No matter how much I have, it never feels like enough."
Working for you
"Money is a tool. It's neutral, and I decide what it means."
Holding you back
"My financial success reflects my worth as a person."
Working for you
"Small, consistent actions matter more than big dramatic moves."
Holding you back
"Spending money on myself feels selfish or irresponsible."
Holding you back
"Rich people are greedy. I don't want to become that."
Holding you back
"I'm already behind. There's no point starting now."
Working for you
"I can build wealth without losing who I am."
The assessment identifies your top 5. Some work for you. Some work against you.
The process
17 questions. No jargon, no right answers. Designed to surface the beliefs you hold about money, security, and success, including the ones you don't realise you hold.
Your personalised results identify your top financial commandments: which ones are working for you, and which ones are holding you back. You'll recognise yourself immediately.
The app's exercise library guides you through evidence-based techniques to examine, challenge, and rewrite the commandments that no longer serve you. This is where change actually happens.

When someone offers you financial advice, your first instinct is to…
The science
Decades of research in cognitive psychology and financial therapy show that persistent money struggles are rooted in unconscious belief systems, not intelligence, not income, not access to advice. The field calls these money scripts. We built UpliftED Finance because we believe everyone deserves a tool that addresses the actual cause.
The exercise library draws on CBT and motivational interviewing techniques. These are proven methods for examining and shifting entrenched belief patterns.
The assessment is grounded in peer-reviewed financial psychology frameworks, not a personality quiz. The commandments it surfaces are real, documented, and changeable.
That distinction is the entire product. We built UpliftED Finance because everyone deserves a tool that addresses the actual cause, not the symptoms.
